IWCK Charity Committee Special Initiatives IWCK Special Initiatives includes: * Humanitarian support to various charities in the Kyiv region through ongoing collections and specific drives and distribution of needed supplies. * One-time projects that are approved by IWCK annually. Collections and Drives September 2008 Barnabas Orphanage Food Drive: We collect canned and dried foods to deliver to the children of Barnabas Orphanage. Barnabas Orphanage is a local orphanage for street children and children whose parents are uanable or unwilling to care for them. They take children off the street, give them food, shelter, educate them and try to offer them a better life. They currently house children and teenagers ages 7 to seventeen. Barnabas, also called Children's Hope, is a faith based orphanage that receives no assistance from the State. October 2008 Collections for Holiday Charity Bazaar: We collect items to be sold at our Annual Charity Holiday Bazaar. November 2008 Angel Tree Drive: We collect small gifts to assemble gift baskets to deliver to the retired lecturers from the Polytechnic Institute who are homebound due to health and disability issues. Previously IWCK members have donated such items as: Western style soaps, lap robes, mittens, scarves, sweets, instant coffee, teas and special food treats. On Going Missionaries of Charity: We collect and distribute donated goods and clothing for homeless people in Kyiv. Volunteer Opportunities Volunteer opportunities abound!
