IWCK Charity Committee The IWCK Charity Committee is a nonprofit, charitable organization, whose aim is to support local Ukrainian organizations that work directly with IWCK's target beneficiaries including: the elderly, disabled, children and women. IWCK is committed to promoting friendship, respect and understanding among cultures, and offers social and cultural activities to our members year-round. How We Assist
Providing assistance to the less fortunate and marginalized groups in the Kyiv region is a central part of IWCK Charity Activities. We assist by distributing funds through the following grant programs:
GRANT COMPETITION
In 2005 the IWCK Grant Competition was created to ensure that our grants are issued using competitive, unbiased and transparent procedures. The Anuual Grants Competition issues over 1,000,000 UAH per year in funding to Ukrainian NGOs. The Grant Competition application process begins annually in December.
We are pleased to announce the 2010 Charity Grants Competition. Each year, the Grants Competition provides grants of up to 100,000 UAH each to Ukrainian and International NGOs working within the Kyiv region on projects supporting Ukrainian elderly, disabled, children and women. Core projects which receive open-ended support, but whose funding requires annual approval. These include monthly food delivery for the elderly and soup kitchens for the homeless and poor. SPECIAL INITIATIVE FUND
IWCK provides humanitarian support to various charities in the Kyiv region through on-going collections and specific drives and distribution of needed supplies, such as clothing, toys, diapers and soap. We also give one-time initiatives that are approved annually by our Charity Committee. How the Money is Raised
IWCK organizes various events each year to finance its charitable activities, as well as to lend its support to Ukraine's cultural scene. Our main fundraising events are: Holiday Charity Bazaar
Held the first Saturday in December, the Holiday Charity Bazaar is IWCK's major fundraising event. Over 30 embassies host stalls to sell goods and delicious food offerings from their home countries. IWCK stalls include: Tombola, Raffle, Boutique and White Elephant. This is an ideal place to shop for the holidays and get into a festive spirit. The 2008 Bazaar was a great success and raised over a million hrivnas. Spring Dinner Dance
Each Spring IWCK hosts an evening of dinner, dancing and entertainment. Fundraising for IWCK charities is generated through live auction, silent auction and raffle and offers a fun, charity driven evening for IWCK members as well as the Kyiv community.
